Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the redeployment of two Commissioners in the State Executive Council following a minor cabinet reshuffle.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Yakubu Tafida, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Birnin Kebbi. Tafida explained that the redeployment aligns with the governor’s mission to reposition the civil service for more effective and efficient service delivery across the state.

According to the statement, Samaila Yakubu Augie has been moved to the Ministry of Health, which had been vacant for months after the suspension of Yunusa Ismail over negligence of duty. Similarly, Haliru Aliyu Wasagu, who formerly served as Commissioner for Solid Minerals before being replaced by Garba Warah, has now been redeployed to the Ministry of Internal Security.

“I am directed to convey the approval of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, for the redeployment of the aforementioned Honourable Commissioners. This directive is for strict compliance and takes immediate effect,” the statement read.

The SSG expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and dedication of the State Executive Council members, adding that their collective efforts have significantly contributed to the successes of the current administration. He reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to sustaining peace, unity, and improved service delivery in Kebbi State.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck in the state on Sunday as no fewer than 10 herders were reportedly killed in a suspected reprisal attack at a Fulani settlement in Tilli community, Bunza Local Government Area.

A local source told Channels Television that the violence erupted after a vigilante member was allegedly killed by suspected Lakurawa bandits, a crime that was wrongly blamed on the Fulani residents of the area. The misunderstanding led to a retaliatory raid by some community members, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.

“The reprisal attack was carried out in error. They thought the Fulani were behind the killing of the vigilante man. They attacked them in their settlement. Over 10 of them were killed, while several sustained injuries,” the source said, adding that search efforts were ongoing for additional victims.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Umar Tafida, and leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association have reportedly visited the area to condole with the families of those killed.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Command, Nafiu Abubakar, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident but promised to provide updates after his findings.
