Panic in Kebbi as bandits kill Vice Principal, kidnap students in night attack
Panic has spread across the Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State after armed bandits attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
During the late-night invasion, the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, was killed while trying to protect the students. Several students were also abducted, but the exact number remains unclear as authorities have not released any official figures.
A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, confirmed the incident and said the attackers entered the school without resistance, causing fear and confusion throughout the community. She described the attack as “heartbreaking” and said it had left residents in deep sorrow.
The late vice principal is being remembered as a devoted educator who cared deeply for his students and stood firm in defending them during the assault.
Security agencies have not yet issued an official statement.
Meanwhile, community members are calling on both state and federal authorities to take immediate action to rescue the kidnapped students and strengthen security in schools and other vulnerable communities.
