Kogi APC holds mega rally, backs Tinubu, Ododo for re-election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Ododo for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during a massive rally organised by APC stakeholders in the state, led by Senator Smart Adeyemi, marking the climax of a statewide mobilisation effort.
Former Kogi State Governor and party leader, Yahaya Bello, moved the motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu, which was seconded by Senator Adeyemi.
Bello also moved a separate motion for the endorsement of Governor Ododo, seconded by the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf.
Speaking at the rally, Bello said, “Today we are here for a single purpose, to endorse our father, leader, and mentor, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to recontest in 2027.”
He outlined three reasons for the state’s support, noting that Tinubu had “laid his life for democracy,” mentored a new generation of leaders, and founded the APC through his vision and progressive ideas.
He added, “Tinubu was created with a special grace of God, and no one can fight that grace and succeed.”
State APC Chairman Abdullahi Bello, Speaker Yusuf, House of Representatives member Halims Abdullahi, former APC National Women Leader Salamatu Baiwa, former Commissioner Halima Alfa, and former Kogi Speaker Prince Matthew Kolawole also voiced their support for the endorsement.
In his welcome address, Senator Adeyemi described the event as historic, saying the massive turnout reflected Kogi’s readiness to back Tinubu and Ododo for second terms. “We are gathered to endorse our performing president and governor. APC in Kogi has shown readiness to deliver victory again,” he said.
Adeyemi added that Tinubu’s administration has focused on “wealth creation, job opportunities, economic diversification, poverty eradication through cash transfers, students’ loans, social security, and innovative leadership.”
Accepting the endorsement, Governor Ododo thanked the people of Kogi State for their support, saying the state is replicating President Tinubu’s vision of good governance.
“Under my leadership, Kogi State is replicating the good work of President Tinubu.”
“He does not need to campaign here for his second term, our infrastructural development already speaks for him,” Ododo said, assuring the people of continued service and loyalty to the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
