NUJ FCT
New Year message To NUJ FCT Council Members
Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
As we step into the New Year, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt appreciation to every member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FCT Council.
The passing year tested our resilience, professionalism, and collective resolve, yet you stood firm, upholding the ideals of our noble profession with courage and commitment.
The New Year beckons us with renewed hope and greater responsibility.
It offers an opportunity to reset, refocus, and re-energise our collective purpose.
As journalists, we remain the conscience of society and custodians of truth. Our role in shaping narratives, strengthening democracy, and promoting national cohesion has never been more critical.
In 2026, we move forward with renewed vigour.
The Council is committed to deepening efforts that prioritise members’ welfare, professional development, and unity.
We will continue to advocate for improved working conditions, capacity-building opportunities, and institutional support that empowers our members to thrive in an evolving media landscape.
Ethical journalism remains the cornerstone of our profession.
As misinformation and disinformation challenge public trust, we must recommit ourselves to accuracy, fairness, balance, and integrity.
Let us remain guided by our Code of Ethics, ensuring that our reports inform, educate, and inspire without fear or favour.
The New Year also calls for solidarity. Our strength lies in our unity, mutual respect, and shared purpose.
Together, we can build a Council that listens, supports, and protects its members while fostering an environment where professionalism and excellence flourish.
I urge every member to approach 2026 with optimism, responsibility, and a renewed sense of mission.
Let us embrace innovation without compromising values, pursue progress without losing our principles, and remain steadfast in service to the public interest.
On behalf of the NUJ FCT Council leadership, I wish you and your family a peaceful, fulfilling, and prosperous New Year. May 2026 bring good health, professional fulfilment, and collective success to us all.
Happy New Year.
