Nigeria rejects Trump’s claim

The Nigerian government has dismissed comments made by former United States President, Donald Trump, where he suggested that Christians in Nigeria are being deliberately targeted and harmed.

In a statement, officials explained that the security challenges in Nigeria are mainly linked to terrorism, banditry, and struggles over land, not religion.

The government said the country has many religions living together and that the attacks happening in some areas are caused by criminal groups, not a plan to target any religious group.
The new Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, also assured Nigerians that the military will continue to intensify operations against armed insurgents and bandits.

He added that the Nigerian armed forces are improving intelligence gathering, training, and equipment to handle rising security threats. The government stressed that Nigeria will not accept any foreign military interference.
