Nigeria’s politics full of betrayal – Ex-President Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has lamented that Nigeria’s political landscape is marked by betrayal and dishonesty.
He made this remark in Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday during the 70th birthday celebration of his former Chief of Staff and former Edo State Deputy Governor, Chief Mike Ogiadomhe.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including former governors Lucky Igbinedion, Osarhiemen Osunbor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State.
Jonathan described Ogiadomhe as a trusted ally, saying, “I became president, then post-presidency, one of the few friends that can give up their necks for me is Mike. You know politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals. You find it difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and in the evening. I’ve witnessed a lot of betrayals, especially during my 2015 election, and Mike is somebody who would take a bullet on my behalf.”
Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, who represented Governor Monday Okpebholo, praised Ogiadomhe’s contributions, noting that the foundation he laid as deputy governor remains a model in the state. Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion also commended Ogiadomhe, saying he had no hesitation in leaving him in charge of the state whenever he traveled abroad.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole added that Ogiadomhe’s loyalty was unwavering, stating, “Whenever we discussed politics, he always told me that wherever Jonathan is, is where he would be.” He also applauded Ogiadomhe’s wife, Louisa, for her strong support.
