NNL Super 8 Play-Offs set to kick off in Delta State

The Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 Promotion Play-Offs for the 2024/2025 season are set to commence on Saturday, 5th July, at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba and the Jay-Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Ukwu, Delta State.
Speaking during the draw ceremony held at the VIP Hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, NNL Board Chairman, George Aluo, assured stakeholders that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure the tournament runs smoothly. He also guaranteed that match officiating would be fair and transparent.
Aluo congratulated the eight clubs that qualified from Conferences A, B, C, and D, noting that none of the four teams promoted last season returned to the NNL. He singled out Ikorodu FC for praise, commending their outstanding performance.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its continued confidence in the NNL Board and thanked the Delta State Government for agreeing to host the competition, which he described as the flagship event of the league.
Highlighting reforms made under his leadership, Aluo stated that the league had been repositioned and promised an even stronger performance during his second tenure. He noted that the Super 8 Play-Offs represent the first major assignment of his current administration.
In a goodwill message, Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adedo, expressed his delight at Delta State hosting the play-offs. He extended appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Sports Commission for their significant support and sustained investment in sports development.
The draw ceremony was attended by NNL board members, match officials, representatives of the NFF, and officials of the eight participating clubs: Barau FC, Yobe Desert Stars FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Doma United FC, Crown FC, Kun Khalifat FC, Osun United FC, and Warri Wolves FC.
The week-long competition will culminate on Saturday, 12th July, with the final match to determine the 2024/2025 Super 8 League champions.
