Gov. Abba Yusuf names Ahmed Musa as Kano Pillars General Manager
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reconstituted the management board of Kano Pillars Football Club, naming former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa as the new General Manager of the club.
The move comes as part of efforts to reposition the club ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
This announcement was made in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who revealed that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders in the football community after the one-year tenure of the previous board expired.
Under the outgoing board, Kano Pillars finished in a respectable ninth position in the recently concluded NPFL season. A number of members from that board have been reappointed alongside new faces, with the aim of boosting the club’s performance and competitiveness.
The 17-member board now has Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) as Chairman, while other members include Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi (Andy Cole), Idris Malikawa Garu, Nasiru Bello, and Muhammad Ibrahim (Hassan West). Others appointed are Hamza Abdulkarim Audi Chara, Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo, Mustapha Usman Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo Salisu Shuaibu Kura, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh, and Safiyanu Abdu.
Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash were retained as Media Directors I and II, respectively.
Ahmed Musa, who enjoyed a stellar football career playing in top European leagues and captaining the Nigerian national team, is expected to inject new life into the club. Governor Yusuf expressed optimism about the appointment, describing it as a strategic move to combine administrative expertise with practical football experience.
“The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to blend administrative competence with football experience. We believe his presence will inspire players, attract investment, and rekindle supporters’ enthusiasm,” the statement noted.
