Kano Assembly confirms Murtala Garo as Deputy Gov
The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following a successful screening process.
The confirmation came during plenary on Monday presided over by Speaker Jibril Falgore, after lawmakers considered and adopted the report of an ad hoc committee set up to screen the nominee.
Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello, who presented the committee’s report, said Garo’s nomination followed the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo.
He explained that the screening was conducted in line with constitutional provisions empowering the Assembly to approve a replacement in the event of a vacancy.
According to the committee, Garo was assessed on his educational background, professional experience, understanding of governance, and his vision for the state.
Lawmakers noted that he demonstrated a clear understanding of the responsibilities of the office and presented what they described as a workable plan to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in delivering his administration’s mandate.
The House unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendation and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the executive arm to promote good governance, accountability, and development in Kano State.
