2027: Shehu Sani says Tinubu will win, downplays opposition strength
Former Senator for Kaduna Central and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Shehu Sani, has dismissed growing support for former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing it as “drama” driven largely by ethnic sentiment.
Speaking during an appearance on “The Honest Bunch Podcast” alongside activist Deji Adeyanju, Sani argued that Nigeria’s major political figures operate within similar ideological frameworks and that little would fundamentally change regardless of who occupies the presidency.
He maintained that President Bola Tinubu would secure re-election in 2027, insisting that current opposition momentum does not pose a significant political threat.
Sani also claimed that political choices in Nigeria are often reduced to competing interests among elites rather than ideological differences, suggesting that leading figures across party lines share similar governance philosophies.
His remarks add to ongoing political debate over opposition realignments and the emerging coalition efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
