NUJ FCT celebrates Yomi Odunuga’s appointment as Media Adviser to SGF

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has congratulated veteran journalist Yomi Odunuga on his recent appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
In a statement signed by the Council’s Secretary, Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ described the appointment as a well-earned recognition of Mr Odunuga’s long-standing professionalism, dedication, and commitment to journalistic ethics.
The union praised his extensive experience and strong communication skills, expressing confidence that he would bring value to his new role and continue to promote transparency and accountability.
“Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to journalistic integrity have always been exemplary,” the statement read.
“Your new role is a well-deserved recognition of your outstanding contributions to the field.”
Mr Odunuga began his journalism career over 27 years ago with The Punch newspaper, where he served as State House Correspondent. He was later promoted to Abuja Bureau Chief and, in 2006, became the Group Political Editor.
He later joined The Nation newspaper as Assistant Editor and Abuja Bureau Chief before being appointed Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, in 2019.
The NUJ FCT Council said it was confident Mr Odunuga would excel in his new role and continue to serve both the government and the public with integrity and excellence.
