NUJ FCT hosts disability-inclusive journalism symposium in Abuja
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council will on Monday, October 6, 2025 by 10am hold a symposium themed “Breaking Barriers, Amplifying Voices: Inclusive Journalism” at the NUJ Secretariat, Utako, Abuja.
In a statement by Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Secretary of Council, the event, organised by the Council’s Committee on Disability, will spotlight the role of the media in dismantling stereotypes and amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria’s democratic and developmental process.
Launch of the Reserved Park Signage Initiative for the National Assembly and media organizations in line with the Disability (Prohibition) Act, 2018.
Technical Sessions on disability rights, media advocacy, and social protection led by experts from CARE, CISLAC, and Heirs Life Assurance.
There will also be an interactive session with journalists with disabilities sharing their personal journeys with a reflection of the union’s commitment to fostering an inclusive media space where every voice counts.
