NUJ mourns Dan Agbese, Iconic Nigerian Journalist
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) mourns the passing of an iconic figure in Nigerian journalism, Mr. Dan Agbese. His death is a profound loss not only to the media industry but to the entire nation.
Dan Agbese was a quintessential journalist, a courageous voice, and a principled editor whose commitment to truth, integrity, and public service shaped generations of media professionals. As a co-founder of Newswatch magazine, he stood firmly for ethical journalism and national accountability, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for decades.
In recognition of his immense contributions to the profession, the National Secretariat of NUJ last year conferred on Mr Agbese the Media Icon honour at a colourful event in Lagos.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, friends, and the wider media community. May his contributions continue to inspire us, and may the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest.
Signed,
Alhassan Yahya
