Veteran actor Okemesi passes away following health struggles
Renowned Yoruba actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known by his stage name Okemesi, has passed away following health complications, his colleagues have confirmed.
The actor reportedly slipped into a coma due to complications linked to medication administered during treatment and was pronounced dead at about 11:50 a.m., according to fellow actor Tony Montana, who broke the news in an Instagram video.
Montana disclosed that Okemesi’s remains have been deposited in a mortuary, while funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in due course. He also thanked fans and colleagues for their support during the late actor’s illness.
Okemesi was celebrated for his contributions to Yoruba cinema and had a long-standing career that endeared him to fans across Nigeria and the diaspora.
