The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has suspended former governor Gbenga Daniel and another member, Kunle Folarin, over allegations of anti-party activities.

Confirming the development, the party’s spokesman, Nuberu Olufemi, said the suspension followed reports from their respective wards in Sagamu Local Government.

State Chairman Yemi Sanusi, who presided over a meeting of the State Working Committee on August 19, disclosed that both Daniel and Folarin were suspended indefinitely pending further investigation.

According to Sanusi, Ward 4 in Sagamu set up a disciplinary committee to probe Daniel, while Ward 6 established a similar panel to investigate Folarin. Both men were invited to defend themselves but failed to attend the meetings or submit a written defense.

“Their deliberate and unexplained absences left the committees with no choice but to proceed with the inquiries. Witnesses were heard, documentary evidence was reviewed, and it was established that they not only failed to cooperate but also tried to intimidate members and frustrate the process,” Sanusi stated.

He added that the committees received reports that the suspended members had been harassing party members and warning them against cooperating with investigators, while allegedly leveraging their influence within the APC to pressure members to withdraw petitions against them.

The state leadership noted that the indefinite suspension was necessary to protect the integrity of the disciplinary process and prevent interference.

“The State Working Committee has ratified the suspensions. This step reflects the party’s commitment to discipline and adherence to its constitution,” the statement concluded.
