Over 6,000 participants to storm Asaba for National Youth Games
Asaba is set to host the 9th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG), with more than 6,000 athletes and officials confirmed for the event scheduled from August 29 to September 6, 2025.
Final entries from the Digital Registration Management (DRM) system show a total of 6,382 participants drawn from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The figure comprises 4,961 athletes, 635 coaches, 386 team officials, and 400 state delegates.
Gombe State, however, is yet to complete its DRM process for its 74-member contingent, though the overall registration still stands at 6,382.
This year’s Games will feature at least 37 sporting events, promising intense competition and a showcase of emerging talent.
Defending champions Team Delta will aim to retain their crown but will face tough competition from other states keen to make their mark at the prestigious youth sporting fiesta.
