Police rescue four abducted children in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued four children abducted by suspected kidnappers in the New Nyanya area of Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Rahman Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital.
According to the statement, the rescue followed a report received on December 31, 2025, from the New Nyanya Police Division, concerning the sudden disappearance of the children under suspicious circumstances.
Nansel said the command immediately launched a discreet and thorough investigation, with detectives working closely with operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
Acting on credible intelligence, the security operatives traced the hideout of the suspects, where the children were successfully rescued unhurt.
“The victims have since been reunited with their families,” the statement noted, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects believed to be at large.
The statement further quoted the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, as commending the professionalism, dedication and swift response of the officers involved in the operation.
The police commissioner reassured residents of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, with particular emphasis on the safety of children and other vulnerable persons across the state.
He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure proper supervision of their children and wards, while also calling on members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
