The gathering marks the third consecutive year the President has welcomed governors during the holy month of Ramadan.

Among the governors present were:

Hope Uzodinma (Imo)

Dapo Abiodun (Ogun)

Monday Okpebholo (Edo)

Usman Ododo (Kogi)

Babagana Zulum (Borno)

Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe)

Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto)

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State also attended.

Other senior officials at the dinner included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several members of the Executive Council of the Federation.

The annual Iftar gathering is part of President Tinubu’s Ramadan engagements, where political leaders and key stakeholders meet for prayers, reflection, and discussions on governance. In previous years, the President has used the occasion to emphasise national unity and selfless leadership. At the 2025 edition, he urged governors and ministers to prioritise citizen welfare, stressing: “Do more for your people.”

The President is expected to host additional Iftar dinners with traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, and other senior officials as the month of Ramadan progresses.

Historically, former President Muhammadu Buhari also hosted leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, and party stakeholders for similar Ramadan engagements.

Details of Monday’s meeting were still emerging at the time of reporting.
