Ediri Oyibo to launch book on Modern Journalism in Abuja
The Editor of TheNewsGuru (TNG), Ediri Oyibo, is set to launch a new book aimed at redefining journalism practice in the digital age.
Titled Journalism NeXt: A Comprehensive Guide to Modern Journalism, the publication explores contemporary media trends, focusing on digital transformation, ethical reporting, sustainability, and the future of news.
According to a statement by the launch committee, the book will be unveiled on April 30 at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Utako, Abuja.
The event is expected to attract key stakeholders across the media industry, academia, and policy circles, with discussions centred on the evolving challenges and opportunities shaping journalism, particularly in emerging democracies.
Oyibo said the book is designed to bridge the gap between traditional journalism values and the demands of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
> “This book is a response to the urgent need for innovation, credibility, and adaptability in journalism. It is designed to equip media practitioners with the tools required to navigate the complexities of today’s information ecosystem,” he said.
The event will also feature the presentation of research findings on the state of journalism in Nigeria, especially challenges confronting journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.

Story:
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three suspects over alleged involvement in fraud, forgery, and romance scams.
The suspects — Tega Emmanuel, Jacob Olatunde, and Gift Okubakpere — were apprehended by officers attached to Zone 2 Command.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Afolayan Gbenga, Emmanuel was initially arrested along Chevron Drive, Lekki–Ajah Expressway while driving a Porsche vehicle, leading to the subsequent arrest of the other suspects.

Emmanuel was said to have coordinated fraudulent activities, including romance scams and the creation of fake accounts. Olatunde reportedly handled financial transactions and collection of illicit funds, while Okubakpere managed cryptocurrency-related scams across platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and online banking channels.
Police said several items were recovered during the operation, including laptops, mobile devices, international passports, vehicle number plates, and suspected counterfeit United States currency. Other items include a mini printer, a toy gun reportedly used for skit production, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
Authorities disclosed that investigations are ongoing, with relevant agencies engaged to verify the status of the recovered items and deepen the probe into the alleged criminal network.
