Real Madrid fire Head Coach Xabi Alonso
Real Madrid have dismissed Xabi Alonso as their manager, less than 24 hours after the team lost 3-2 to Barcelona in the SuperCopa final.
Following the defeat, Alonso described the competition as “the least important” tournament they would play in, comments that came shortly before the club’s decision to part ways with him.
The former Spain midfielder had been under pressure for a while, as the team continues to struggle in LaLiga and the Champions League.
Madrid’s decision to part ways with Alonso, comes two days before their next fixture – a Round of 16 clash in the Copa del Rey against Albacete.
