Security Operatives disperse Sowore-led #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja
A combined team of defence and security operatives on Monday forcefully dispersed protesters led by activist Omoyele Sowore during a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow demonstration in the Maitama area of Abuja.
The protesters, which included Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, and several others, had gathered near the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) headquarters, chanting “Free Nnamdi Kanu Now.”
Before the chaos erupted, the demonstrators were heard cautioning security operatives not to use teargas against them. However, moments later, sounds of gunfire echoed through the area, prompting the crowd to flee for safety.
More to come.
