SGF approves promotion of 100 FRSC senior officers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has received a major boost in its leadership and operational capacity as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Distinguished Senator George Akume, approved the promotion of 100 senior officers to higher ranks.

The landmark promotion exercise, carried out on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, saw the elevation of 51 Deputy Corps Commanders to the rank of Corps Commander, while 49 Assistant Corps Commanders were promoted to the rank of Deputy Corps Commander.

This development, widely regarded as a reinforcement of the Corps’ human capital development strategy, is expected to further enhance professionalism, strategic leadership, and the overall performance of the agency in fulfilling its statutory mandate of promoting road safety across the nation.

Senator Akume, in conveying the President’s approval, lauded the transparent and merit-based nature of the process. He commended the leadership of the Corps for upholding professionalism and objectivity and urged the newly promoted officers to recommit themselves to the Corps’ mission of reducing road traffic crashes and ensuring a safer motoring environment for all Nigerians.

“This promotion exercise is a reflection of the current administration’s resolve to recognise and reward excellence, dedication, and hard work in public service,” the SGF said.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the officers on their well-deserved elevation. He noted that the promotion is both a reward for outstanding service and a call to greater responsibility.

“You have earned this recognition through diligence and sacrifice, but higher ranks come with higher expectations. You must continue to uphold the values of discipline, service, and integrity,” the Corps Marshal stated.

He also encouraged officers who were not promoted in this cycle to remain committed and professional, assuring them that their contributions will be acknowledged in due course

Reiterating his administration’s focus on staff welfare and capacity building, the Corps Marshal called on all FRSC personnel to stay focused and work collaboratively towards the achievement of the Corps’ strategic goals and national road safety mandate.

The promotion is expected to strengthen the FRSC’s leadership structure and enhance the agency’s ability to respond effectively to road safety challenges across the country.
