Super Falcons arrive in Portugal ahead of WAFCON warm-up clash
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Portugal for an international friendly against the Portuguese women’s national team as part of their build-up to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
NUJFCT reports that a contingent of 10 players, along with members of the technical crew and support staff, landed in Lisbon on Sunday night in readiness for the tie.
Among the new arrivals in camp is former Atletico Madrid forward Omorinsola Babajide, who is expected to strengthen the Falcons’ attacking line for the fixture. Thirteen additional players are still expected to join the squad ahead of the match.
The friendly is scheduled for tonight at the Estádio José Gomes, located in the Amadora district of Lisbon, and will kick off at 7 pm Nigerian time, which coincides with local time in Portugal.
The Super Falcons will also square up against Ghana’s Black Queens in another preparatory game on Friday as they fine-tune their strategy ahead of the continental showpiece.
