Suspended Rivers Governor Sim Fubara visits Tinubu in Lagos

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday, June 3, paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his private residence in Lagos.
This visit comes months after the president suspended Fubara from office on March 18, 2025, alongside his deputy and all 26 members of the state House of Assembly, following an intense political crisis between Fubara and his predecessor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Though details of their meeting remain undisclosed as of press time, the visit is seen as significant, marking Fubara’s first known face-to-face engagement with the president since the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State.
The crisis had rocked the oil-rich state, with fierce tensions between Fubara and Wike’s loyalists leading to a breakdown in governance before the Federal Government intervened. A Sole Administrator was subsequently appointed to oversee the state’s affairs.
