Tinubu celebrates T.Y. Danjuma at 87, describes him as a Patriot and National Icon
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated elder statesman and former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), on the occasion of his 87th birthday, praising him as a distinguished patriot and a gentleman of honour.
In a statement released on Tuesday, President Tinubu described Danjuma as a man whose contributions to Nigeria’s unity, security, and development remain invaluable. He noted that the retired general has demonstrated unwavering commitment to nation-building through his military service, philanthropy, and support for democratic institutions.
Tinubu commended Danjuma’s decades of sacrifice and leadership, highlighting his role in strengthening the nation’s armed forces and fostering peace across different parts of the country. He added that Danjuma’s philanthropic initiatives especially through the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation,continue to impact countless lives in education, health, and community development.
The President prayed for God’s continued grace upon Danjuma, wishing him good health and many more years of service to Nigeria.
Danjuma, a respected soldier, businessman, and statesman, remains one of the country’s most influential national figures. He marked his 87th birthday on Tuesday with warm messages from leaders and citizens across the nation.
