Tinubu orders deployment of Army Battalion to Kwara after Boko Haram attack
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the deployment of an Army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly overnight attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Worro community.
The directive was disclosed in a statement signed on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the new military formation will lead Operation Savannah Shield, a security operation aimed at neutralising terrorist elements in the area and protecting vulnerable communities from further attacks.
President Tinubu condemned the assault, describing it as a cowardly and barbaric act, and criticised the attackers for targeting defenceless civilians in what he called a doomed campaign of terror.
The President expressed anger over reports that the attackers killed villagers who rejected attempts to indoctrinate them into extremist ideology.
“It is commendable that the community members, even though Muslims, refused to be conscripted into a warped belief system that promotes violence over peace, tolerance and dialogue,” Tinubu said.
He stressed that terrorism has no place in Nigeria and vowed that those responsible for the killings would be brought to justice.
Tinubu also directed enhanced collaboration between federal and state security agencies, as well as humanitarian institutions, to provide immediate relief and support to affected residents.

The President prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed and extended condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the people and government of Kwara State.
