Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms Liverpool exit, poised for Real Madrid move
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially announced he will leave the Premier League champions at the conclusion of the current season.
The England international is set to complete a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
In a statement shared on social media on Monday, Alexander-Arnold described the decision as a deeply difficult one. “This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” he wrote.
The 26-year-old, who will depart as a free agent, progressed through Liverpool’s youth ranks and has made 352 appearances for the first team. During his time at Anfield, he claimed two Premier League titles, including the current campaign, and was instrumental in the club’s UEFA Champions League triumph in 2019.
His honours also include the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, two Carabao Cups, an FA Cup, and the FA Community Shield.
Alexander-Arnold began the season as one of three high-profile players whose contracts were due to expire in the summer. While the club successfully secured extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, they will now lose Alexander-Arnold without compensation.
