The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has intensified its clampdown on illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta, arresting 69 suspects and seizing over 32,000 litres of stolen petroleum products in recent operations.
According to the division, the operations, carried out between 11 and 24 August 2025 in collaboration with other security agencies, also led to the deactivation of nine illegal refining sites across Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, and other parts of the oil-rich region.
The spokesman of the 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, confirmed the development, noting that the army remains committed to dismantling criminal networks seeking to re-establish illegal oil activities in the area.
The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Eric Emekah, praised the troops for their resilience and dedication, assuring that the army will continue to make the Niger Delta unsafe for economic saboteurs.
