Troops kill 11 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Borno, Adamawa operations
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed 11 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in separate operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
A military source confirmed on Tuesday that eight insurgents were eliminated in an ambush in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno, while three others were neutralized during an offensive in Umbo village, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa.
The first encounter occurred on September 15, 2025, when Sector 3 troops on a scanning and picketing patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route were attacked with an improvised explosive device and gunfire. The soldiers repelled the assault with superior firepower, killing eight terrorists, including two identified commanders.
Recovered items included 14 motorcycles, AK-47 rifles with magazines, rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, anti-aircraft links, blankets, and assorted drugs. Two gun trucks that could not be recovered due to terrain challenges were destroyed by the Air Component of OPHK, supported by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) ISR platform. No troop casualties were recorded.
In Adamawa, troops of Sector 1, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, stormed Umbo village in Madagali LGA the same day, killing three fighters and seizing AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and a mobile phone. Again, no casualties were reported on the side of the troops.
The military high command hailed the troops’ resilience and urged residents to continue supporting counter-terrorism operations with timely and credible intelligence.
