Iran says it received U.S. messages on ending war
Diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States are currently underway, Esmail Baghaei confirmed on Monday.
Baghaei said Iran responded to communications received via friendly nations in accordance with its “principled positions,” issuing “necessary warnings” regarding the severe consequences of further attacks on its critical infrastructure.
“The Iranian armed forces will deliver a decisive, immediate, and effective response to any action targeting our energy assets,” Baghaei added.
The peace initiative is being facilitated by Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye, with mediators working to convene talks in Islamabad or another host city later this week.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is leading Iran’s delegation, while the U.S. will be represented by President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Vice President JD Vance has also engaged with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the initiation of talks between Tehran and Washington.
President Trump commented that both sides are “having really good discussions” and warned that Iran has “one more opportunity to end its threats to America and our allies, and we hope they take it.”
Despite the negotiations, the U.S. has not altered plans to deploy thousands of Marines to the Middle East. On Monday, U.S. Central Command confirmed ongoing precision strikes against Iranian military targets.
