U-20 AFCON: Nigeria, Morocco settles for draw
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles were unable to deliver the expected spark as they settled for a goalless draw against Morocco in their second Group B match at the CAF Under-20 Cup of Nations in Cairo on Sunday.
The encounter, which many had hoped would produce excitement, lacked flair and clear opportunities. The only notable chance for Nigeria came in the first half through midfielder Divine Oliseh, but it wasn’t enough to break the deadlock.
With this result, the seven-time champions will now have to secure a win against Kenya’s Rising Stars on Wednesday evening to guarantee a place in the quarter-finals.
Both Nigeria and Morocco currently have four points each, but the Lion Cubs lead the group due to a better goal tally after their thrilling 3-2 victory over Kenya on Thursday.
Nigeria remains second in the group standings and will face bottom-placed Kenya in a crucial final group game, while Morocco will battle it out with fellow North Africans in the last round of Group B fixtures, also on Wednesday.
