2027: OBO Youth Movement meets Hon Akpanke, canvasses for Senate seat to return to federal constituency
The member of the House of Representatives representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on FCT Area Councils, Hon Chief Peter Akpanke, on Monday welcomed members of the OBO Youth Movement to his office at the National Assembly as they call for Cross River North Senatorial seat to return to the Federal Constituency.
Led by the Movement’s Director General, Comrade Imbufe Solomon, the group visited to share their vision and advocacy plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Their main goal is to ensure fair political representation, specifically by calling for the Cross River North Senatorial seat to return to the OBO Federal Constituency.
Comrade Dr. Paul Anyin, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, spoke on behalf of the group, highlighting an imbalance in the distribution of the senatorial seat.
He noted that by 2027, the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, with just two local government areas, will have held the seat for 20 of the last 28 years.

In contrast, the OBO Federal Constituency, which includes Obanliku, Obudu, and Bekwarra, has only held it for eight years.
In response, Hon. Akpanke thanked the group for their visit and praised their unity and forward-thinking approach. “I truly value your thoughtful and mature approach to this issue,” he said.
“While my focus remains on my current mandate, I welcome this discussion and applaud your proactive efforts for our constituency’s future.”
He urged the youth to stay peaceful, strategic, and united in their push for fairness and development across Cross River North.
The meeting concluded positively, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to the growth, fairness, and unity of the constituency.
