The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Federal Government to urgently rescue students abducted in recent attacks and to prosecute those backing the bandits responsible.

In a statement on Monday, the student union expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of school kidnappings, describing them as a serious threat to the future of education and national security. “It is unacceptable that students continue to be targeted. The government must act decisively, not only to rescue victims but also to bring the sponsors of these criminals to justice,” the statement read.

NANS urged authorities to strengthen security around educational institutions and implement measures that prevent further abductions, emphasizing that the safety of students must be a top priority.

The union’s appeal comes amid a surge in school abductions across several states, highlighting the growing challenge of insecurity in Nigeria’s educational sector.
