Kidnapped Kaduna Anglican Priest confirmed dead
The Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, has announced the passing of The Venerable Edwin Achi, Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero.
His death has led to the cancellation of the highly anticipated ‘Stand Up for Jesus 2025’ programme.
The announcement was made through the Diocese’s official Facebook page. Ven. Achi was abducted on October 28, 2025, alongside his wife and daughter.
The Diocese described his death as a devastating blow, noting that he was deeply cherished for his faithful ministry, humility and commitment to the work of God.
“His faithful service, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to God leave a lasting legacy,” the statement read.
Church authorities and parishioners have continued to pray for the safe return of his wife and daughter, who are still being held by the kidnappers.
In honour of the late cleric, the Diocese confirmed the cancellation of the ‘Stand Up for Jesus 2025’ event.
“The Lord be with you,” the statement concluded.
