Imo govt seals hotel, mortuary linked to kidnapping, organ harvesting

The Imo State Government has sealed off a hotel and a privately owned mortuary allegedly linked to kidnapping activities and the illegal harvesting of human organs, following a major security operation along the Owerri–Aba Expressway.

The development was confirmed on Sunday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Okoye Henry, in an official statement released via his X handle.

According to the police spokesman, the operation was triggered by credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected criminal kingpin, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, who is currently on the run. The raid is part of an intensified crackdown on kidnapping and violent crimes ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, in collaboration with other security stakeholders.

During the coordinated operation, officers inspected a hotel and a private mortuary owned by the suspect. What they discovered was deeply disturbing.

Henry revealed that mutilated and decomposed corpses were found in the mortuary under highly unhygienic conditions, fuelling strong suspicions of illegal organ-harvesting activities.

> “Following these discoveries, both the hotel and mortuary were sealed on the directive of the State Government,” the police said.

The suspect’s residence was also searched, and security operatives reportedly recovered important exhibits that may assist ongoing investigations.

Authorities have assured the public that the search for Oparaugo is ongoing, adding that the clampdown forms part of renewed efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
