US urges Nigeria to strengthen security after Kaduna church abductions

The United States government has called on Nigerian authorities to improve protection for Christian communities following the abduction of worshippers in Kaduna State.

The appeal comes after gunmen attacked churches in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area, where more than 160 church members were reportedly kidnapped during services.

In a statement, the US urged the Nigerian government to take stronger measures to secure places of worship and prevent further attacks on civilians.

The Kaduna State Police initially denied reports of the abductions but later confirmed that the kidnappings took place after verifying information from security sources.

Local leaders have condemned the incident and demanded better security for vulnerable communities.

The US call adds to growing international concern about Nigeria’s ability to protect citizens amid frequent attacks by armed groups in parts of the country.

As of filing this report, the federal government had not issued an official response to the US statement.
