FCT Polls: Bwari PDP Chairmanship candidate steps down, backs APC opponent
With barely three days to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has withdrawn from the race and declared support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Joshua Ishaku Musa.
Adamu announced his decision on Wednesday, stating that it followed consultations with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to him, the move was taken in the interest of unity and peace.
> “After deep consultations with the FCT Minister, I came to the conclusion that Joshua and I are brothers,” Adamu said. “It would not be right for two brothers to fight over one position. Based on that understanding, I have decided to step down and support Hon. Joshua.”
He called on his supporters to rally behind the APC candidate to ensure victory at the polls.
Addressing party faithful and residents at the event, Wike urged voters in Bwari to back Joshua Ishaku Musa, promising increased infrastructural development if he emerges victorious.
“The people of Bwari should support Joshua,” the minister said. “If you vote for him, there will be more roads and development in this area. On Saturday, come out in large numbers and make sure he wins.”
The election is scheduled to hold on Saturday across the area councils of the FCT, including Bwari Area Council.
