Super Eagles set for March camp ahead of Four-Nation Invitational in Amman

Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, will resume camp on March 24 as part of preparations for the Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in Amman.

The tournament provides a critical opportunity for the team amid ongoing coaching negotiations and legal disputes.

Officials confirmed that the three-time African champions will face two World Cup-bound opponents—Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31—at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium.

A senior team official told BSN Sports:

> “Everything is aligned with the FIFA window. Camp opens the day the window begins. The players and coaching staff will be on-site in Amman from March 24 through March 31.”

Coaching and Contract Updates

Despite ongoing discussions around a new 19-point contract proposal with the Nigeria Football Federation, head coach Eric Chelle is expected to lead the squad for the duration of the Amman trip. Negotiations reportedly include a request for a $130,000 monthly salary, but the NFF has indicated that Chelle will operate under his current contract while the team focuses on building from its 2025 AFCON bronze-medal achievement.

Legal Uncertainty Looms

The invitational comes during a period of heightened legal attention for Nigerian football. The NFF is awaiting a FIFA ruling on a petition against DR Congo, alleging that the Leopards fielded up to nine ineligible players during the 2026 World Cup playoff final in Morocco, which Nigeria lost 2–4 on penalties. A favourable decision could alter Nigeria’s World Cup qualification pathway.
