UAE intercepts 137 missiles, 209 drones in Iranian attack
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence has reported that, since the start of the Iranian attacks, the nation’s air force and air defence systems have successfully intercepted and neutralised 137 ballistic missiles and 209 drones aimed at UAE territory.
Of the 137 missiles detected, 132 were destroyed mid-air, while five fell into the sea. Similarly, 195 of the 209 drones were intercepted, with the remaining 14 landing within the country’s territory and waters, causing only minor material damage.
The Ministry noted that debris from the destroyed missiles and drones struck various areas, resulting in limited damage to some civilian infrastructure. Authorities responded promptly, following established procedures to secure affected zones and ensure public safety.
The UAE government strongly condemned the attacks, calling them a serious escalation that threatens civilian lives and regional stability, and emphasising that such actions violate national sovereignty and international law.
The Ministry reiterated that the UAE reserves the right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, citizens, and national interests. It confirmed that the country remains on high alert against any emerging threats.
H.E. Reem Al Hashimy said: “The authorities remain on high alert and are fully prepared to address any threats. We are committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard our country and ensure the protection of everyone living in and visiting the United Arab Emirates.”
