Former Federal Capital Territory lawmaker, Philip Tanimu Aduda, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter addressed to his ward chairman on Tuesday, Aduda cited the prolonged crisis within the opposition party as the reason for his decision. “I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” the letter read.

Aduda expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it provided him to serve in various elective positions across the country.

The politician served two terms in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2011 before being elected as Senator representing the FCT in 2011. He lost his seat to Ireti Kingibe in the 2023 elections.
