President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council, resulting in changes in key cabinet positions.

The development was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, which confirmed that two cabinet members, Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa, are to exit their positions, with replacements already announced.

According to the memo, Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to formally hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

In the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as Minister-designate, while Ahmed Dangiwa is expected to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

The memo directed that all handover processes must be completed on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the rationale behind the changes, Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at strengthening coordination within government and improving service delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement read.

He added that the president acted in line with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers him to appoint and reassign ministers.

Akume also conveyed the president’s appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.

He further noted that the process of cabinet reinvigoration would remain continuous as the administration seeks improved performance across all sectors.
