Tinubu appoints, reappoints heads of NECO, NBTE, Polytechnic, National Library
President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh appointments and renewals across key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education, including the National Examination Council (NECO), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam, and the National Library of Nigeria.
The President appointed Prof Modupe Adeola Adelabu as Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO while retaining Prof Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar of the council.
For the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof Babatunde Salako was appointed as Chairman, while Prof Idris M Bugaje’s tenure as Executive Secretary was earlier renewed for a second and final five-year term.
At the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, Engr Dr Bongfa Binfa was appointed as Rector for a single five-year term, succeeding the pioneer rector whose tenure recently expired.
President Tinubu also renewed the tenure of Prof Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director/Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria for another five years, following her first appointment in 2021.
According to the Presidency, the appointments and renewals are aimed at strengthening leadership, consolidating ongoing reforms, and improving service delivery across the education sector institutions.
The statement added that the President expects continuity in key reform programmes, including the completion of the National Library Headquarters project and implementation of the institution’s 2025–2030 strategic plan.
