President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The brief ceremony, held at the Council Chamber, followed the resignation of at least two ministers ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) May 2026 primary elections.

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the exercise was attended by the ministers’ spouses and senior government officials.

The new ministers were nominated on May 5, 2026, following the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, both of whom stepped down to pursue elective offices.

The Senate screened and confirmed both nominees the following day, May 6.

With their inauguration, Tegbe and Enikanolaiye become part of a fresh wave of ministerial replacements triggered by political realignments ahead of the ruling party’s primaries.

Until his appointment, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, while Tegbe brings decades of experience across both public and private sectors, including senior roles at KPMG Africa and engagements with major institutions in Nigeria’s economic and energy sectors.

The reshuffle also reflects ongoing adjustments within the Federal Executive Council since the cabinet’s initial inauguration on August 21, 2023, and a subsequent reshuffle in October 2024, bringing the total number of ministerial changes to at least a dozen.
