‘I have returned to our family’ — Fubara backs Tinubu, endorses Wike’s rainbow coalition for 2027

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition, the political movement led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Rivers State.

The governor said the prolonged political crisis in the state had come to an end and urged his supporters to rally behind all candidates presented by the Rainbow Coalition.

“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara said.

He dismissed suggestions that he should delay aligning with the coalition, insisting that his decision had already been made.

“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he added.

Fubara also ruled out participating in any activity capable of reigniting political tensions in the state.

“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he stated.

Speaking on the Riven Medical Facility project, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring its successful completion, noting that he approved government support after receiving assurances on the project’s viability and delivery timeline.

He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility is expected to be completed within three months, describing it as a strategic investment that will boost industrialisation, create employment opportunities and position Rivers State as a major centre for the production of medical consumables.

According to Fubara, the project is expected to stimulate economic growth, attract both local and international investors, and encourage the emergence of supporting industries around the facility.

The governor pledged the state government’s full support for the investors and appealed to members of the host community to cooperate with the company to ensure the project’s success.

He further revealed that the Rivers State Government is currently involved in litigation with several companies over contractual claims exceeding ₦200 billion, stressing that his administration is committed to avoiding disputes that could discourage investment.

Fubara expressed confidence that the first phase of the project would be ready for commissioning within the projected three-month timeframe.
