UN Chief urges global unity and peace as Ramadan commences
As Muslims worldwide commence their observance of Ramadan, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has offered his heartfelt greetings, highlighting Ramadan’s embodiment of compassion, empathy, and generosity.
In his message marking the beginning of the holy month, he described Ramadan as a time for reconnection with family and community, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the plight of those less fortunate.
Beyond religious observance, Guterres urged the global community to reflect on shared values and work towards a more just and peaceful world. He called for mutual respect among people of all backgrounds, reinforcing the importance of interfaith harmony and cooperation.
As Ramadan unfolds, his message serves as a reminder that peace and humanity transcend borders. At a time of growing global unrest, will the world heed this call for unity and compassion?
