NUJ FCT Council Secretary, Jide Oyekunle loses father
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council announces the passing of Elder Samuel Ayanlola Oyekunle, the father of its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle
In a statement by the council chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, the late Elder Oyekunle died in the early hour of Thursday 20th March 2025 in Ibadan after a brief illness at the age of 76. He hailed from Ilua Community, Okeho Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Late Elder Oyekunle was the former Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Photographer Association (NPPA) Oyo State Iseyin Branch (NPPA). A distinguished opinion leader, lover of people and a beacon of hope in the community. He departed this life leaving behind a legacy of dedication, selflessness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of the society and humanity.
His invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Ilua Community, Iseyin Local Government and photography profession in Oyo State and the country as a whole will be a reference point in the anals of history. He left an indelible mark in the lives of many people who have come in contact with him and this will continue to influence the future generations.
Late Elder Oyekunle was not just a leader he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of inspiration for many. He was a peace-loving father, husband and opinion leader who has lived a life worthy of emulation.
The NUJ expresses deep condolences to Comrade Jide Oyekunle, his wife, children and the entire family during this grieving time, recognizing the significant impact of this loss on their lives.
The Union encourages the Secretary to find solace in the cherished memories shared with his father and assures him of their unwavering support.
He was survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
The funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
