President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the brutal killing of travelling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in Uromi, Esan North Local Government Area of Edo State.
Expressing shock at the tragic incident, the President has ordered the police and other security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to apprehend and prosecute those responsible.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga on Thursday, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the bereaved families and assured Nigerians that criminals would not be allowed to shed innocent blood with impunity.
Emphasising the rule of law, the President declared that jungle justice has no place in Nigeria, reaffirming every citizen’s right to freedom of movement across the country.
He also commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and community leaders in Uromi for their prompt intervention, which helped prevent further escalation of tensions.
