Anambra Guber: Soludo emerges sole APGA candidate, declared winner of primaries

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has been officially confirmed as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The declaration took place at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where a total of 3,168 delegates from 326 wards across the 21 local government areas of the state endorsed Soludo through a “yes” or “no” ballot. Out of 3,175 accredited delegates, 3,172 votes were cast, with only four declared invalid.
A follow-up voice vote from delegates representing all 21 local government areas further validated the outcome of the balloting exercise.
Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, the APGA State Chairman, described the primary as a demonstration of the party’s confidence in Soludo’s transformational leadership, which he said has delivered tangible results across the state. Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Chief Uchenna Nwegbo, added that the entire process adhered strictly to the Electoral Act of 2022.
Accepting the nomination, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, calling it an “unprecedented mandate.”
He pledged to deepen the ongoing developmental revolution across sectors in Anambra and reaffirmed his commitment to the five pillars of development driving his administration.
He also announced Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as his running mate, reiterating that the state is on the path of progress and must not relent.
The primary was conducted under the supervision of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and followed the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC’s guidelines.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of the Certificate of Nomination to Governor Soludo by the party’s electoral committee.
