Igbo Community Assembly elects new Executives in Abuja

The Igbo Community Assembly (ICA), the umbrella body of the Igbo association in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has elected new executives to lead the group for the next three years.
In what was described as a free and fair election, Ikenna Mutuanya emerged as the President-General, while Charles Uzodinma was elected Vice President. Other elected officials include Anthony Ibe as General Secretary, Chinedu Okoli as Assistant Secretary, and Timothy Maduabuchukwu as Treasurer. Elom Dominic Sunday will serve as Financial Secretary.
Also elected are Ugochukwu Ogbonna as Publicity Secretary, Chijioke Nwaeze as Chief Marshal, Rose Jerry Rob as Welfare Officer 2, and Friday Aja and Chidi Obidike as Provosts. The position of Welfare Officer 1 went to an unnamed official.
Those elected as Ex-officio members are Tobias Ogunoba, S. Emeka, Chief Onokwuru, Iyom Kate, and Wilfred Ukpo.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Eze Igbo I of Abuja, HRH Eze Ibe Nwosu, charged the new executives to be good ambassadors of the Igbo people and promote the rich culture and traditions of the Igbo nation. He urged them to build a harmonious relationship with their neighbours, especially the host community, and to remain united and committed to peace and progress.
Eze Nwosu emphasized that the survival and success of the association depends on the transparency and dedication of the new leadership. He warned against divisive tendencies and internal conflicts, urging the team to work together for the collective good of all Igbos in the FCT.
The election’s returning officer, Barrister Okechukwu Nzeukwu, described the process as peaceful and devoid of any form of rancour.
