Suspected Herdsmen kill over 10 in Enugu community
																								
												
												
											Suspected herdsmen reportedly killed over 10 people in Aguamede, Eha-Amufu, in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State on Sunday evening, June 16.
According to Vanguard, some residents alleged that a helicopter had flown around the community earlier in the day, raising suspicion that it might have dropped the attackers. The bandits were said to have invaded Ikpakpara, Aguamede around 4:30 pm, when some residents were still at church, and began attacking people in their homes.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants did not announce their arrival with gunfire but rather launched a brutal attack using machetes. “They just came in and started butchering people like cows, and by the time people realised what was happening, over 10 people had already been killed,” a resident recounted.
Many others reportedly remain missing, while at least 10 lifeless bodies with deep machete wounds to their skulls and other body parts have been recovered.
This latest attack comes just a week after a similar incident in Mbuji Eha-Amufu, where four people were killed by suspected herdsmen.
As of the time of this report, the Enugu State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
